A Prayer for Peace

Lord of all peace,
we ask for your calming presence
in this time of sorrow and upheaval.

Where there is anguish, bring comfort.
Where there is confusion, bring clarity.
Where there is fear, bring assurance.
Where there is despair, bring the first tender shoots of hope.

Grant peace to the one we have lost,
that they may rest in your eternal light.

Grant peace to those who mourn,
that they may feel your arms around them.

Grant peace to this gathering,
that we may support one another
with patience and with love.

And grant peace to our troubled hearts,
that in the midst of our grief
we may glimpse the promise of your kingdom,
where every tear is dried
and every broken heart made whole.

We ask this in the name of the Prince of Peace.
