Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 February 2026
1. About Celebrant
Celebrant (“the Service”) is a web application at celebrant.app that helps users plan funeral and memorial services, select content (hymns, readings, prayers, poems, liturgy), and generate Order of Service booklets. By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Celebrant. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
3. Accounts
You sign in via Google OAuth through our authentication provider, Clerk. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.
4. Content and intellectual property
- Library content — hymns, prayers, readings, poems, and liturgy in our library are either in the public domain or included with attribution. Copyright status is indicated on each item.
- Your content — eulogies, tributes, custom text, and uploaded photos you create remain yours. By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to store, display, and process this content solely to provide the Service to you.
- Celebrant brand — the Celebrant name, logo, and design are our property. You may not use them without permission.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. This includes but is not limited to: attempting to access other users’ data, uploading malicious content, using the API in ways that could harm the Service, or violating any applicable laws.
6. Sharing and collaboration
When you share a service with others by email, they can view or edit the service depending on the role you assign. You are responsible for managing who has access to your services.
7. API and developer access
We offer a REST API and MCP integration for programmatic access. API keys are personal and should not be shared. We may rate-limit or revoke access if the API is misused.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Celebrant available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes.
9. Limitation of liability
Celebrant is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. On termination, your right to use the Service ceases, though we will retain your data for a reasonable period to allow you to export it on request.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the application or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13. Contact
