1. Who we are

Celebrant (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a web application at celebrant.app that helps people plan funeral and memorial services. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at help@celebrant.app.

2. What data we collect

  • Account information — your name and email address, provided via Google sign-in (OAuth).
  • Service plans — the details you enter about a funeral service: names, dates, venue, selected hymns, readings, prayers, eulogies and other content.
  • Photos — images you upload for use in the Order of Service booklet.
  • Sharing information — email addresses of people you invite to collaborate on a service.
  • Usage data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected automatically.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide the service — storing your service plans and generating booklets.
  • To send transactional emails — for example, notifying collaborators when you share a service.
  • To maintain and improve the application.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

4. Third-party services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate Celebrant:

  • Clerk — authentication and user management.
  • Vercel — application hosting and image storage (Vercel Blob).
  • Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.

Each service processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies only, set by Clerk for authentication sessions. We do not use analytics cookies or tracking cookies.

6. Data retention and deletion

You can delete individual services at any time from your dashboard. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at help@celebrant.app or manage your account through Clerk’s user settings.

7. Your rights (UK GDPR)

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data.
  • Request a portable copy of your data.

Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interest (providing the service you signed up for) and consent (where you choose to share data with collaborators).

8. Children’s privacy

Celebrant is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the application or by email.
